At all levels, I don't see women coaching men in the pros, amateurs, college, high school, middle school or even elementary school! But I see men coaching women at all levels. Why is that?

That is not true at all. Here in Michigan there is a female Varsity boys basketball coach at Hazel Park HS. Who has been the coach for about 6 years. Her story was on HBO about 7 years ago, because she won a lawsuit about being passed over the first time it was open. Detroit high school hall of fame coach Brenda Gatlin coached the boys at Cass Tech hs. for one season. Pat Summit at Tennessee it is believed was offered the Mens job on several occassions. The main reason behind it is that many AD's are not going to risk their own job by hiring a female coach to coach and more importantly Lead a mens program. I believe many women could be successful at it, but there would be many hurdles they would have to overcome with their own team of men, first being the trust and respect factor! Also I don't want to forget the other female coach in HS that I know of in Michigan at Mt Pleasant Sacred Heart Hs. She is Afro-American coaching varsity boys at a predominately white school.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T or lack of. Coaching has too often and too long been considered a man's profession. When women got on board it opened up the door but not wide enough for women to be accepted as a coach of a men's team, however I have seen a woman assistant coach on the high school level in my hood. There's also this stigma that the men athletes would try to bone a woman's coach but most female athletes are gay so a man coach couldn't get any play anyway. I'm not making it up, I'm just saying what's being said.

We have to start believing in women leaders because it is a good chance in 2 years we will have a female president. I think given the chance with a few good women coaches (some will fail some will succeed so give more than a couple a shot) with the talent that men have they could be great coaches. It will take adjustment by both but once things start happening for the better, everyone will be happy because winning cures all.

Speaking as a former black athlete growing up in the normal single parent home. It is easy to take orders from a woman (or get one of your moms slippers up side ya head). So if she can take that type of (motherly) lead and her players believe in her, they will play harder for her than any man coach because most black men respect their moms as gods.

I did not mean to drop the race card but I am just speaking from my perspective.

women don't coach because long ago people thought that a women's job was to cook, clean, or do any other house work. but since then it should have changed, but of coarse it hasn't. males think that if a girl was to coach and end up having a winning team it would cause them to loose their confidence and self esteem therefore they want to show up a women coach, but truth be told some women coaches are better than guy coaches. i am on the girl's b-ball team and i have to say i really like my coach he is a guy. but he's not as strict as the junior varsity's coach who is a female we are both winning teams and are very influenced by both of our coaches. so i really don't think it matters who coaches' as long as they have patience and are willing to work with the kids.

I think women don't coach men's basketball because men might not think that women can't coach as well as men do or it can cause sexual relationships betwen a woman coach and a man player

2 part. One as it was said men aren't as agreeable to having a woman lead them. The second is that, and don't take this wrong, women aren't as assocciated with the men's style of game and therefore it is harder for them to find a job in the men's style. Where as men know the skills and basics, they also know the form men play. As women move past just the basics, if they choose to, they will have an easier time trying to get jobs at places like the lower levels and slowly move up the ranks. It will take time though.

A female isn't taken seriously because of double standards. It's just one of those invisible barriers in our society, and culture.

Another example is war. How many females have ever been on a Battle field aside from mythological Amazon Warriors.

It's just not a feminine trait, and I don't mind.

Reason is Men dont take orders from women and if one tries they just make her fall down.Although she might be a better athlete and a better administrator but IT IS A MAN'S WORLD BABY.
