The vice president has done that, Kreider argues, and the family tries to offset that carbon footprint by purchasing their power through the local Green Power Switch program — electricity generated through renewable resources such as solar, wind, and methane gas, which create less waste and pollution. "In addition, they are in the midst of installing solar panels on their home, which will enable them to use less power," Kreider added. "They also use compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy efficiency measures and then they purchase offsets for their carbon emissions to bring their carbon footprint down to zero."

AL (Mr Environment) GORE STILL CONTRIBUTES JUST AS MUCH TO CARBON "POLLUTION" AS EVER, HE JUST TAKES UP SOMEONE ELSE'S SPACE WITH PURCHASED "CARBON OFFSETS".

This "carbon" thing does not apply to the elite, just to you and me.

And just for sh*ts and grins, it takes wayyyyy more energy (and "pollution") to manufacture a solar panel than it will ever yield in its operating lifetime, even is the sun shines on it every god-blessed day. Solar panels are an energy user, not a producer..but don't you feel oh-so-good having them on your house.

Of course Gore and his ilk can't be bothered with facts.

Oops! Looks like someone who has issues with the whole crazy idea of global warming now chooses to attack the guy who brought it to the world's attention. Yes, it is really, really bad that rich people use so much energy while espousing that the rest of us need to get on track. I hope his family, in future, is more diligent in their use; it makes it frustrating for the rest of us. Might I point out that it is never a good idea to quote anyone without noting the source?

His family is in the tobacco business. What good will slowing down the green house effect if he's killing people with his product?

what's worse is that he's gotten so darned fat, that his butt is probably spewing more methane (a greenhouse gas) than anything I'm driving.
