What can America do to convince nations to step into Iraq and Afghanistan and help diffuse the situation there

Personally I believe Iraq was a big mistake but the Americans did the right thing in Afghanistan. Now what can be done to encourage others to step in and help solve the crisis?

Nothing unfortunately. Other nations recognized this debacle for what it was when we were still frothing at the mouth for a reprisal attack on some brown country for 9/11. If we cannot win Iraq, we should redeploy the forces who are there to Afghanistan and at least TRY to get that situation under control.

This should be a lesson for hawkish american policy - you act unilaterally, you will stand alone.

theres already other countries in afghanistan britain in fact has just increased the number of troops it has their. the problem is most countries do not agree it is worth having troops in afghanistan. its an unwinable occupation because no one has ever managed it the british empire failed three times the russians failed despite sending a bigger army there then to any other country. afghanistan isnt a country its a land occupied by a lot of roaming tribes that hate each other. which other countries could be convinced to fight their until a clear objective is established?

You look to the nations who are geographically closest, and you invite them to a summit. When everyone is there, you discuss how to involve the local neighborhood in the strengthening of the regional peace, and in making sure that their neighbor doesn't collapse.

The reason for this is threefold:
1) It gets American soldiers out of the nation in question more quickly and safely
2) It harbors regional unity and tranquility, potentially stimulating local economies, and forging stronger regional friendships/ending regional emnities.
3) It makes us look good.
