I mean, he seems to flounder between public speaking and writing books about his opinons. Is he really able to 'bring home the bacon' on this type of work?
Hey, if he can, good for him, we are all trying to feed our families- but it just doesn't seem to be a real job.

I don't hate Al Gore, I don't even know the man, sheesh, I'm just saying what he does, doesn't seem like a real job.

Well, thank you for showing me it's considered a job. I guess I just respect a man more who uses a little more muscle in his job.

I think the real question should be, "What doesn't Al Gore do?" I mean, one day he's inventing the internet, the next he's VP, the next he's a climatologist, the next he's a professor of politics, the next he's in the movie business. I mean he's amazing, right?!!
I wish I weren't so conservative or maybe I could be this dynamic. Yeah liberals have it made, they really don't have to be right about anything like conservatives do, they simply have to resort to hyperbole at every turn while whipping their moronic lapdogs into a frenzy.

Four speaking engagements and he makes as much as the President. The book sales are just gravy.
You have to work really hard to get to a place where life gets so lax. No one is going to pay you or I $50K to hear us talk. Don't hate him because his job is so easy now. Actually, it really isn't. Scientists have been saying the same things he talks about now for years and no one paid attention. Some people ignore Gore now because, well, he's Al Gore. Convincing this country to do something about global warming could be a tough one for him to sell to the US, even though we should.

Rudy Giuliani's been making most of his money from public speaking.Newt Gingrich writes books and gives public speeches for money. And then there's Colin Powell,Tom Delay...
So apparently, there are quite a few people who see this as a career.

Being an author and lecturer is something most past Presidents and former Vice Presidents do after they leave office. Regan, Clinton, Bush, everyone did it. I don't see that it isn't a real job.

Al Gore is on the university lecture circuit which brings in good money for left-wingers like him. He probably brings in a pretty good honorarium for every campus speech (funded by the taxpayers of course). His books aren't going to break records in sales and neither will his "documentary" movies but they probably make him a good living. Besides, his Senate and VP pensions are well above the average worker's pension.

"Floundering" between public speaking and books makes him more money than your entire family will see in a lifetime.

You mean conducting research and teaching people about our environment isn't a job? What do you want him to do, work at McDonald's? Writing a book, making a movie and being paid to speak brings home plenty of bacon. Better than him becoming a lobbyist.

The American people pay him a fat pension from his service as Vice President and US Senator.
He also commands huge sums of money for personal appearances. But that's what it takes to pay his $30,000 utilities bills for his mega-mansion and all his power and gas usage.
