I just asked a question about what water test kits are the best and Magicman mentioned the digital readout test pens. I have tried looking them up but not sure exactly what some of them are. I've found lots of ORP pens but not understanding what they exactly test. Please help! Can you give me a website to check out or the best place to buy one of these that will check everything that needs to be checked with aquarium water??

If anyone has imput on these pens that would be appreciated!

ORP is Oxygen Redux Potential, nothing a typical aquarium keeper needs to worry about really. SOme of the same places that carry those pens will carry pH and ammonia pens. Try searching for meters as well. pH meter, Ammonia meter etc The following links are just a few places and many others are out there so shop around but remember cheaper pens may not measure the right scale or may not be as accurate.

Example: On one of these sites a $40 pen for pH measures with a resolution of 0.1 and an accuracy of 0.2 meaning a pH of 7.0 could read as far off as 6.8 - 7.2 The $198 model has a resolution of 0.01 and an accuracy of 0.05 meaning a pH of 7.0 will read between 6.95 and 7.05 Pretty accurate.

Some of these places carry only one type, some carry multiple types of pens or probes. Fair warning, not cheap!
