what i mean is, for example, if i was called a 'non-believer', that to me implies that someone is seeing me as being less than the norm, saying that 'believer' is the main function.
if i am 'atheist', should i call believers 'non-atheists'?...or 'non non-belivevers'?

its also as in 'non-smoker', which makes it sound as though 'smoker' is the norm.
