I've been there 3 times and I love it! It's around 85 degrees year round, rainbows everywhere, and the vegetation is beautiful.......lush, green, colorful flowers - my favorite is the plumeria.
For your first trip, I highly recommend the island of Maui. It's a great combination of places where you can shop, relax, etc. And you definately have to check out the black sand beaches in Hana. Definately an experience!
Oahu is just a little too industrialized for me.....
We are planning to go back - maybe to the Big Island or Kauai.

Yes, I went to Oahu and it was the most beautiful place I've ever seen....My whole life I always thought I didn't care whether I ever went to Hawaii because it was so cliche, but I had an opportunity to go 4 years ago and now I know why everyone wants to go there (or go back). Absolutely breathtaking.

My mom and aunt just got back from there - they said it was very lush but not somewhere they'd ever want to go back. They weren't as impressed as they hoped to be.

Very nice. It can get a little pricey but that is expected. It's a very pleasant experience and is a great get away.
