I have been playing in a hockey league for about 4 months and my gear is getting pretty ripe, I was wondering if there was an easy and safe way to clean and disinfect all of my stuff. I hear somepeople use lysol spray, but I don't want to runin anything. Any advice?

There are some specialty places like this: http://www.hockeywash.com
or google "sport wash" for around your area

I know they have different versions like a general sports gear washing place around the US and Canada, it should be linked on that site above ... but I saw it quite a while ago.

There's also this:
http://www.sprayfresh.ca/index3.html...

Which is like febreeze, but helps eliminate bacteria build up which can be very harmful to yourself and even your teammates. Just febreeze isn't the greatest idea. Some of the infections and rashes I have heard about people getting from not washing equipment often enough or correctly ... its not very pleasant at all.

Got to hear the Caps equipment manager speak on Monday and he recommended Lysol! He also mentioned that the biggest mistake people make is not taking care of the equipment right away and letting it linger in the gear bag.

Not everyone has $6000 equipment steamer to use, but I can tell you it doesn't seem to work. By this point in the season, the locker room was pretty smelly. Smelly equipment is just a fact of life, I guess.

I used to place my helmet interior the dishwasher yet i ruined the interior padding- Dont try this. i stumbled on that the bathing device became ok on soak/ knit placing for shoulder pads, elbows, and pants (basically the shell) I actually have a sort of steam mouse issues that artwork great, it gets the scent out of very just about each little thing. I additionally positioned my stuff interior the closet with an sharper photograph Ionic Breeze, which provides an analogous outcomes as a sort of machines you spot at rinks. besides the incontrovertible fact that they are costly, yet you may get greater cost-effective fashions at wal mart.

A lot of people use Fabrize, sometimes leaving it out in the sun all day will help, so rinks have a sanitizer locker, but the end all be all is getting new equipment
