Is this your first birth? If it isn't then you should be at the hospital if your contractions have continued for more than an hour. If this is your first.......wait until they've grown to 4-5 minutes apart and continue for an hour or more......because if they stop then it's false labor.

If you are in pain, you should ALWAYS contact your doctor, regardless of length of time between contractions...if this is your first baby or if you live more than 15 minutes away from the hospital, you should contact your doctor and ask what pain relief you could have that would not slow down your labour. Also, try different positions like squatting or bending over a chair...it sometimes relieves pain from pressure or cramping, and if you have a hot water bottle or an electric blanket you can put them at a warm , not hot temperature, and place them on your back or lower stomach area. Conggratulations, and call that doctor!

I would just go to the hospital. I dont trust the waiting until they are 4 to 5 minutes apart. The reason I dont trust that is because with my third baby, my contractions were all over the place. 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, then 5, then 8, and so on. Never constant. And mine werent even really hurting either. Just very light menstrual like cramps. I went to the hospital to get checked out and as I got onto the table my water broke and I had my baby 2 hours later. So Just go to the hospital. Better to be safe than sorry.

I was in the exact same situation with my youngest. I didn't want to go to the hospital to early cause I had the fear of getting sent home to. If you are in as much pain as you say you are, you better get ready and go in. They have machines that they can put you on so they will know how strong you contractions are. Lucky for me I started to have pain at 8 am at around 1 I could stand it anymore and I went in. 15 Minutes after arriving to the hospital, I had my boy. The doctor's said if I waited 15 minutes longer I would of had him in the car. I know it's really hard to get sent home time after time but if you are in real pain that you just can't stand anymore you better go in now. I waited to long and I couldn't even get anything to subside the pain because of that. I had to have my boy with no drugs which hurt way more then my first boy(I had something for pain with him) They are not going to send you home if you are in really bad pain. You should really go in asap...most doctor's say to go in when you contractions are so many minutes apart...some of them don't understand that it doesn't matter how far apart they are..they get stronger when they want.

I would go ahead and go to the hospital. You never know how fast they might progress to before you get there. I lived 30 minutes to the hospital and when I left the house mine were 5 minutes apart, by the time I got there, they were 2 minutes apart and strong. I was in preterm labor though and luckily they stopped it. Go now. I seriously doubt them sending you back home at this point. Good luck and I hope that things go well for you. Come back and let us all know how things go for you, and tell us all about the baby!!!!!

wait until the water breaks or until your 7mins apart then go to the hospital. If you want you can go now then can give you something to speed up the contractions. Until you get to the hospital the contractions are going to hurt. Only if you get medication the pain is goin to be unbearable until the baby comes

I would wait until they are 7 min apart and then go in and by the time you get there they might be 5 minutes by then.

I would go to the hospital. But I completely understand not wanting to be sent home. If you can't stand the pain I would certainly go to the hospital! :)

If you are in active labor with regular contractions and dialating chances are good that they will not send you home. You can also receive nubain for pain and it does help. Congrats you are gonna be seeing baby soon!

It depends, is this your first child? it may take hours if so, if not, it may be within the hour. I would go ahead to the hospital just to be safe. try and relax and breathe. Walking will bring it along faster.
