Yes...but exploitation of women, by women has been going on for thousands of years to varying degrees. It's basically prostitution.

The women appearing in the media chose to do so, therefore they are not being exploited. They're earning a paycheck.
The rest of the public (males and females) have no choice as to what the media throws at us.

I hear a lot of "masculinists" complain that the media portrays them as nothing more than "idiotic punching bags". This is a form of exploitation, and no, I don't think they have "a choice", although the case can be made that advertising and Hollywood is still mainly run by men. The only "choice" either of us have is to write to the companies that put out these degrading commercials and movies, not use their products, turn off the t.v., and stop buying magazines.

Assuming you mean in such roles as porno, or ring card girls, or skinny models etc? Or the Paris Hilton, Linsey, Spears, approach to life and career? I don't think too many women have guns held to their heads here.
If you don't want to be labeled an airhead, Pam Anderson type, then don't do the types of things they do in front of a camera. Behave smart, keep your undies on, (or your legs together at least), control your impulses, make better CHOICES.
No one can say that actress Jodi Foster is being exploited. Why? Because she BEHAVES in certain manner both in front of, and behind the camera. She chooses to act that way.
Yes they have a choice....just like men have that choice. Did Ozzy have a choice if he was made to look like an idiot on worldwide TV. YES. He made that choice. Do the Geeks have a choice? YES. Smart guys all of them, elected to be made fools of on TV. American Idol contestants, etc. The list of people willing to make themselves look asinine for our entertainment grows longer every day!
There is an old saying, "You can NOT rape the willing."
If a woman / man does not like how they are treated in the media..stand up, say what you gotta say. But be prepared to get out of the business, and the media limelight, if you don't like the answers back.

I do not feel exploited in the media. Women who are exploited choose their fate....but just because some are does not mean women as a group are victims of exploitation.

they have a choice to be exploited IN the media, but not BY the media. that is, those that do not allow themselves to go into the industry (the common woman) are still exploited as a by product of those that CHOSE to be; they are still subject to the same attitudes created by the exploitation of those that allow it.

Yes, but who knows why these women make that choice? Either way, we have a choice not to watch it.
