We have personal insurance against theft, fire, death...which are considered unlikely.
But we don't even have a policy for dealing with Global Warming even though most scientists think it is likely and deals in the worst case with the demise of the human race.
Global Warming is already proven !
It is just the cause that we are squabbling over.

You guys aren't thinking about this too much are you?
sillycanuckpei - you say we need more research but that is exactly what American's should expect their president to get done. If it turns out that this is a false alarm then great. But the point of this question is that he appears to be doing nothing. Has this ever been mentioned in a State of the Union address ? Where is the the billion dollar grant to investigate this ?

Of course we can blame the president.
He is responsible for taking action on this. Case closed. Thats why we elected him.
We are in limbo not knowing whether we need to do anything. Why should people stop driving fossil fuel when they don't know if this is really the problem.
If you assume pollution is the problem then with his assistance we could require all coal burning facilities to have zero emissions.
We could give subsidies to 'green' technologies. etc etc etc.
But if it isn't we still need to study it.
His assistance could make all the difference.
Imagine you are on the beach and the sea starts coming in fast. Some people say don't worry its just the tide, some say lets get off the beach and some say lets get ready to get off the beach.
Which are you going to do ? Thats the question the president needs to address...not just ignore the tide ! Thats why we elected him.

Bush ignores everything except the conflict in Iraq and Iran's pending nuclear threat. Bush should have never been elected president of the USA because the man is basically ignorant and incapable of doing anything right. The problem is who will be elected next? Will the next president be any better than Bush?

Could the wingnuts finally wake up to the fact that Global Warming is a NATURAL occurance? Investigate the amounts of greenhouse gasses produced from the methane on the bottom of the oceans, the greenhouse gasses from the volcanos, and every other natural occuring act of nature. If Global warming was a true danger to the world, the big wigs would bann fossil fuels entirely and let out some of the inventions that were made in the early thirties that would truely benifit man. You do realise that someone in high power knows exactly whats happening, and knows that there are fools like yourself who will allow the media to lie to you and lead you around by your nose. As far as the punishment for Mr Bush. Give him some Icecream in an airconditioned office, and an Ice cold beer. The man deserves it.

What do you propose Bush do ? Remember he's not a dictator. A president presides over the law makers. He keeps order, etc. He can't just dream up something, and instantly make it a law. That's what dictators do.
America is only one of many contributing to global warming. Even though we're one of the chief offenders, we're a small part of the overall problem.
Global warming can't be stopped until we're all prepaired to return to the horse and buggy days. We have to stop burning coal in our homes and factories. We have to stop burning oil in our cars and factories. It will help greatly if we don't heat our houses.
Now please, don't blame the president, or anyone else if you heat your house, if you drive or ride in a gas burning vehicle, if you use items made in a coal or oil burning factory.
Place the blame where it belongs - - - on the six billion people who live on this earth.

I can't believe you're asking such a stupid question this early in the morning.
You aren't keeping up on current events, are you? If you were, you'd already know that Bush has made several statements in the past acknowledging global warming. He's hardly ignoring it.
I just know you're not going to like this since you're obviously a "Bush Basher," but have you considered the possibility that if you hold Bush responsible for this, you also have to hold the leaders of every nation in the world equally responsible since, by your logic, no one is doing anything about global warming? Or are you going to dismiss this little factoid and continue to bash Bush?
And lastly, genius...since when is ignoring anything a crime?
Jeez........

Global warming aside, I think it to be irresponsible to an administration to ignore that we are having a negative impact on the earth. that our dependence upon oil is out of control. That our waterways are becoming so polluted they are unable to sustain marine life. That emissions although not completely proven to cause global warming have proven to show an increase in COPD, Asthma and Cancer. We are taxing our power grid, resulting in rolling blackouts and power shortages. We are a society of super consumers, and we can all agree that we are doing damage, by way of the waste we produce.
Unfortunately there is no legal recourse to take, it should be noted that future generation have to live with the mess we have created. Out of respect for the future of that nation it is best that we make our land a safe place to live.

If so, then everyone who drives a car or uses an industrial product would have to be punished for crimes against humanity. In fact, a lot of our electrical plants could have caused global warming according to the theory. Therefore all of us should be punished, since our computers are using power right now.

Can you prove "global warming" is a problem that is caused soley by humans? And if it is ever proved (which I highly doubt) should all humans be tried for crimes against humanity? Should we try Al Gore second for all his trips on private jets back and forth across the country?
Why are some humans so conceited as to think that we have caused this? When did we officially start recording temperatures? How do we know this is not a cycle the earth goes through every 500 to 1,000 years?

Absolutely.
We also need to talk to the SUN. He has been really working hard to raise global warming. Maybe a UN peace keeping mission with arbitration can get the sun to stop shining so brightly.
While we are at it lets talk with a few under water volcanoes that are heating the ocean up as we speak.
Hey.. cow farts.. are a HUGE contribution to CO2 levels (co2 by the way is NOT a pollutant.. its life to all planst on the planet)
so..
NO you idiot.. bush is SAVING our economy. But he is going to cave cause bush is actually on YOUR side buddy and wants global government just like you bozo's

Global warming as a political issue will always be opposed by thinking people. The crowd that believes man is causing climate change are somewhat like the loonies screaming "repent, repent, the end is near" Thinking people realize that even if the climate is affected by man the best we can do is learn to live with it. No punishment should be handed down for practicing common sense

It certainly is not a crime against humanity, as there is not actually a scientific consensus about global warming. Remember, there were articles in the 1970's about a new ice age coming, and many scientists were convinced that there was global cooling going on.
