Toxic Shock Syndrome can be caused by Tampons. If you leave a tampon in too long for example. It is potentially fatal if left untreated, and can start with flu like symtoms. Pads do not cause toxic shock syndrome so if you are worried about it stick to pads instead of tampons

You do take the risk with tampons of toxic shock syndrome. However some people prefer them because they are more convenient and comfortable, you can forget you have your period and you don't have to worry about the problems you do with pads (i.e you can wear tight clothes, you don't need to worry about them falling etc..), but you shouldn't wear them at night (wear pads at night). I definitley prefer tampons.

In Mauritius they sell them in the London supermarket in Black River.

toxic shock syndrome can happen when a fibre from a tampon or tampon remains in the body.

basically it causes a poison within the body and can be life threatening.

have you tried looking it up on www.nhsdirect.co.uk???
their web site has some great medical information for may things. and if you are that concerned you could always ask your practice nurse at the doctors, or try the family planning clinic they may help!

i perfer pads. they're much more safer than tampons. with tampons you have to cautious, they can sometimes get stuck all the way in if you don't put them on right.
