40gb a months is what bt was giving me previously on option 3 total broadband
i am a avid downloader so i personally thought that 40gb wasnt very good, you were allways worried how much you downloaded, and how many films you downloaded, and for 40gb you could usually get around 45 to 50 films
you can work out your downloads using this handy little calculator...http://www2.bt.com/static/i/btretail/consumer/broadbandusage/index.html
good luck

40GB is quite a lot, but if you want to download films etc. it will disapppear alarmingly quickly.
It depends on the length of the film and the compression used of course, but generally think of a DVD-quality film as being about 4GB (It's actually 4.7GB, but some is used for fancy menus, games etc.). Online movies are usually compressed a bit more so you get more movies per month though fortunately.
So say 2-3 films a week and e-mail - No big downloads or attachments to e-mails.
It's probably more than enough for normal use, but graphics of any sort - Especially movies; SERIOUSLY eat into your allowance. I'm guessing you might be on Sky? If so, They do other packages which cost a little more, but offer unlimited downloading. It might be worth your while if you find you want to download a lot of movies?
I hope this gives a little bit of a "feel" for how much you can get for 40GB?!
I hope you enjoy broadband!

Yes, for most people it should be more than enough! That's more than 1GB a day. Though if you are downloading a lot of large files like movies, it may not be enough. A DVD is 7 to 8GBs. If the average movie is 7.5GB you can download about 5 movies a month.

My mate and i had a 40 gig limit on our shared connection and we thought it would be plenty but we found out that every web page you access, download & upload, email, online gaming etc all goes towards your 40gig and we went over by 140-180g a month for 4 months before they slapped a £1 per gig charge on us!!...We were downloading 24/7 but still...be aware!

there is 1024mb in a GB. So in essence you have 40,960mb, if a film is in AVI format which are usually about 700mb that means 40,960mb divided by 700mb = 58.51 which is alot of films.
So i am sure you have enough.

If you're downloading the divix format film than every film is about 700Mb. so 40Bg/700Mb equal ~60movie.
