I had paid the bill online before using another bank account.
I opened a new account with chase and they double paid my chase credit card out of the old bank and the Chase bank. It was a huge payment and overdrew me at my old bank because I didnt expect it.
I am mad because they would not admit their mistake and now have waited for my checks to clear and plan to close the account.
They do not want me to close their account. They are not friendly at the teller window. The woman who I spoke with on the telephone about the double payment was rude and hateful and I just want out of this account. Now they want to talk to me before I close the account. Why?

Am I understanding you correctly, that you have Chase automatically deduct your payment from your account? Or were the bank accounts set up to pay the bill? There is probably little you can do to get back the money the double payment, as you actually owe them that much, and more. I try to avoid automatic deduction for this very reason, even though it means more work on my part (since I have to initiate each payment each month). I am not sure why they want to talk to you, but what matters is how you feel. You should feel comfortable with your bank, since you have to trust them to protect your biggest assets: your money and your credit rating. Good luck and I hope you get things straightened out.

Chase does not admit to errors willingly and the dept that handles disputes does not take calls or email. They want you to write, but it seems writing make the matter worse. Even then it will take one to two billing cycles.

Do your self a favor, if you got this thing worked out, get another card, from what I can see the best thing a person can do is go with the guy whose giving you the best interest rate, because all credit card companies will screw you in the end.

You don't have to talk with anyone to close your account. I'm surprised they were rude. Generally the people who answer the phones are courteous to a fault.

In any case this is a stalling tactic. Destroy the card and change any automatic charges to another credit card.

When you talk to whoever they want you to talk to, just say that you want to close the account. Listen to whatever they say and when they stop, say it again. If they ask you a question, tell them that your here to close the account. Eventually they will get the idea. Just do not give them any kind of opening and you'll be done with them.

First of all never ever pay anything online , they want to talk to you to make sure they get their money and keep yours , this is why I do not use credit cards or banks.....they want me because of a high credit score ..My bank did not want me to leave them because I had a large amount in there...but I did it anyway
