Theres definitly a problem if your bored on a date, i think it's more of a mans job to keep the entertainment flowing. or maybe you guys just do not have a connection.

I try to cope with the situation and hope it goes really fast, or try to make it a short date as possible. and never see the guy again.

That is exactly what happened to me last Saturday, he talked all the time about his father and then when I started talking he intrrupted... to talk about his father !!!
I kept looking to my watch and so felt I was late and finally finished and took me home...
