My computer is 3 years old. I put the DVD burner in it myself over two years ago. Now it don't work. The computer is slow. I will like to buy a new new one but don't know if it would be better to upgrade. And would I be able to sell my PC or trade it in for a small discount on the new one?

Well...if your computer has a Pentium 3 processor with little RAM then I would not waste time with any upgrades....it is now past tech...and those systems aren't worth the upgrade...and forget running XP or let alone Vista on it. Even the older Pentium 4 models are not that upgradable...that depends on your config and motherboard upgrade possibilities. Usually a computer older than 3 years old is way past the new tech...like audio/visual.. speed and internet...processor speed....bells and bings, etc...If it is a older Pentium 4, you can atleast see if it would go on eBay or a local buyer...I would definetley upgrade to a new computer.

therez no point in having older computers at present days....and moreover computers becoming bit cheap now...so u may go for buying a pc having 512 mb ram....40 or 80gb hard disk....an geforce xfx 128mb agp card......sony or Lg dvd writer... a creative sound card 5.1 and speakers(optional)..and an amd or p4 64 bit 2.8ghz or above speed processor.....your new pc should do jus great now and u would be writing cds /dvds in a cool faster speed....njoy....
