Good to see some people didnt read the question and answered individual movies instead of a SERIES....

Now everyone is giving the standard series answers like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", Jason, or Freddy (Sometimes I dont think people remember the series are Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th) Some people are probably gonna give recent crappy series some votes like Saw, The Grudge or The Ring. I dont agree with some of the new ones being series. I think to be a series it should be at least 4 movies.

Now anyways, I dont think they would be the scariest, but the four series I am going to recommend are both bloody and entertaining. They are the "Hellraiser" series, "Childs Play" series, "Puppet Master" series and "The Leprechaun" series.

"Hellraiser" is such a great, underrated series and by far the best/scariest of the 4 series I recommend. The first two movies are absolutely great. Origional story, great characters and some utterly disgusting deaths. Even movies 3-8 are entertaining and keep that origional feel of the first two. I recommend "Hellraiser: Inferno" (#5) and "Hellraiser: Hellseeker" (#6) from the later of the 8 part series. And rumor has it they are going to remake the first one for 2008 release....*sigh*.....

Child's Play has given us one of the most memorable killers in movies, even if it is only a doll. Most people are familiar with Chucky. The thing is people take movies like this to seriously. It's a killer doll. It's mean for fun, humorous horror entertainment and it succeeds on all levels. The most recent ones are an example of a great character and movie idea made to entertain and in some cases scare/disgust.

"Puppet Master" is on the same level with Chucky and the Childs Play series. The idea of killer toys/puppets was origional and a way to be able to add new dolls and characters for every movie. Not to mention it has spawned many copycats such as the series "Demonic Toys" (hell there was even a 'Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys' movie) and the upcoming movie Dead Silence is a combo of Puppet Master and Child's play. Larger doll like in Chuck, but there are many different ones are all look like they will probably kill different.

Finally the series "Leprechaun" is good for some laughs and some gore. This is a series that seems like it was almost meant to be a joke. I mean when three of your six movies are "Leprechaun 4: In Space", "Leprechaun in the Hood", and "Leprechaun BAck 2 the Hood" you are setting yourself up for some critics. But if you watch these movies they are entertaining because it is almost mocking itself with how cheesy it seems, but it's still good for some laughs and a 'bloody' good time!

So there you go. 4 series that are semi-scary but are just good all-around entertainment. They dont have to be the most origional or the creepiest if they present themselves in a way thats not meant to be taken too seriously. And these definately cant be taken too seriously, but they can be enjoyed by all.
