How about a 'better choice' like to 'think outside the Microsoft box'!?

Run a FREE Operating System that is Immune to the "114,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions"!

Includes over 5500 FREE games, programs, suites, browsers, and more!

This runs in the CDrom, boots in the RAM, and is a LiveCD. Upon install, it runs the old computer upto 50X faster! Works great on my old Pentium Class PII 350Mhz systems! Totally virus FREE!

http://pclinuxos.com can be installed with a single click of the icon. Please read the install help guide on desktop, FIRST.

Friends don't let friends get virus'.

I have been in IT for years and this is the suite that I use...

LavaSoft Adware06 SE (can be found on downloads.com) - run once a week

AVG-AntiVirus (can be found on downloads.com) - it will actively scan your machine in the background without sucking down a lot of memory

EasyCleaner (search for it on google) - to maintain your PC - run once every 2 weeks

CleanUp (search for it on google) - to maintain your PC - run once every 2 weeks

All of these products are free and user friendly.

Hope that helps!

anti-virus wise use Avira antivir PE
av-free.com

as for spyware just use yahoo toolbar's built in spy search.
or lavasoft

i use all of these and they all rock and are free if you use them for home use

then again you could get friendly with a linux based op, such as ubuntu, or suse
