These are the rules for Hamsphire Constabulary on PCSO Eyesight standards:

~Your uncorrected vison (without glasses or lenses) must be 6/36 (the second line down on the opticians chart)
~Your corrected vison (with glasses or lenses) must be 6/12 (the fifth line down) or better in either eye, and 6/6 with both eyes
~The constabulary accepts applicants who have had corrective eye surgery.

The standards appear similar for all forces, but it will be worth searching on google for "PCSO eye test" and your force name to check the standards for your specific area.

I work in HR for a police force.
have a look on the "police could you" website for the specifications required.

You can join up if you wear glasses.
They may do your medical without your contacts in but if they do they will also do it with your contacts in too. Under the DDA (disability discrimination act) they can't not recruit you unless it is below the standard required even with visual aids.

Hope this helps! - good luck

You shouldn't have any probs - one of my friends is a FuzzButt and he wears contacts and sometimes glasses. Not going to affect your prospects

If you are in the UK don't worry, they'll take you on if you are in a wheelchair with the bizarre recruitment campaign these days.
