Commercialism of holidays is a definite downer. Specifically Christmas. Now I find thanksgiving very enjoyable, its simply a time to get together with family , enjoy a meal and conversation. Not really commercialized. Birthdays are great , except mine , I prefer not to celebrate them. I think its extremely enjoyable to celebrate younger children's b-days, but late teens is as good a time as any to stop. St Patricks Day is nothing but a drunk fest, Valentines Day is a Hallmark Holiday where every florist in the nation gets to triple charge for a dozen roses. Sweetest day is ???? hm-mm I thought we already had valentines day...etc etc etc...yeah I agree, but I'll observe them as long as I'm getting paid time off at work for them.

If you think about it... It more comerciazlized than anything else. People seem to forget the true meanings and real purposes of the holidays. Its all about spending so much money on others that you are thousands of bucks in debt. Regretting it later. People seem to not be pleased with gifts theygit anymore... they complain about what they didnt get or what they did get was crappy and the REGIFT it later. Its the thought that counts and always know that you are never entitled to anything so dont expect something because u know that person on a family, friend or intimate level. when ya start getting greedy... thats when the meaning is long lost.

I try diligently to avoid the secular and heathen holidays. The special days the creator set aside should receive some respect.

I see what your saying very clear it's like if a person want to do something for you, it shouldn't need wait on a holiday to do so .The majority of holidays is for the merchants, this way they can move their innovatory. This I truly believe.
