Easiest just to go to your bank local branch. They will do an international transfer for you. To fill out the form you'll need the account details of the cottage onwer/holiday co (name, a/c no, bank name & address and IBAN/Swift no). The cost will vary according to how quickly you need the funds to get there and the currency. I think I paid about £20 recently to transfer $800 to the US to pay for a hotel booking. NB You need to take ID e.g. passport to the bank with you.

I would suggest Visa or Mastercard. If that is not available ask the cottage if they accept PAYPAL. That is a service used with ebay globally and you can send money to people for whatever reason as well. The cottage should be able to assist you with that problem as well, if they cater to a global market. I hope you work it out and enjoy your visit to the United States of America. :)

You could try opening a PayPal account most American places use it and its a really safe way to pay for things overseas

i'd say paypal but i wouldn't say its totally safe. whilst signing up for a paypal account there IS a part in their t&c's which after translated from their posh jargon means that they can totally drain the account that you've linked to it but they'd only do this if you're totally rich (unlike me)
