they will probably give you a pelvic exam and check the heart rate of the baby and ask you if you have any questions

I was about 10 weeks with my first "doctor" visit because I was admitted into the hospital for 5 days. I hadn't had any visits before that other than to a free clinic for a free ultrasound to "confirm" baby was alive and kicking in there. But, I was admitted into the hospital with Type 1 Diabetes, that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the pregnancy and that's when I had my first doctor visit. After that, I was 12 weeks.

Congratulations!! Expect to have a pelvic exam and bloodwork.Probably an ultrasound since they do the first one at 3 months and they will give you a picture of it. They didn't do that when I had mine. You may be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. They will measure your abdomen from beneath your breast to your pelvic bone so they can keep track of the baby's growth.Give you dozens of pamphlets! Good luck and enjoy. I know I was lucky but I never felt more alive than when I was pregnant and never sick.

Urine tests (for protein and such they will do this every visit), blood tests, they will ask you lots of questions about your medical history and background and lots of personal questions like do you smoke or drink, weight, height, blood pressure, then an exam with the doctor including an internal exam, maybe you will hear the babys heartbeat. If not you will hear it at the next appt. for sure...

At mine, I had a vaginal exam, breast exam and a pap smear. Then they did the vaginal ultrasound which was sooo cool. She also pressed on my belly and tried to find the heartbeat at 12 weeks.
I also got my blood work done for RH status, antibodies and to find out my blood type. They can also do the test for Aids and Thyroid (if you sign a waiver).
I got to ask questions too.
GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!

once you're going loopy over it, i'd pass forward and ask for yet another ultrasound if he nonetheless will not be able to locate the heart beat along with his doppler. I rented a heartbeat video exhibit and characteristic been able to hearken to the heart beat considering that i replace into 9 weeks pregnant--whether it replace into very, very not basic to locate (took me 20-half-hour to locate it each and every time for the 1st couple of weeks). i'm not shocked that your physician could not locate it at 11 weeks. He could hear it next time for effective, however.

On my first visit they made me sign a lot of paper work and did all sorts of blood test, a lot of blood test. I had a vaginal ultra sound done and got my first pic of my baby. It was probably the best visit ever for me and my husband.
