Now that the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombing in Afghanistan, and the fact that Cheney was the target....is there any question that the real war on terror should have been focussed on Afghanistan?
It would almost seem as though the Taliban are making a mockery of Bush, waving a flag and saying, "Here we are!"

How long was the US in Afghanistan? Did they get the job done? By contrast, they are STILL in Iraq, even after many say the job they went in to do is finished (Saddam).

Right Now it is Canadians that are doing most {if not all} of the fighting in Afghanistan. We are kicking Taliban butt over there. Mind you, I would much rather they do it there, that here on North American soil. I also would like to see them fight the Taliban in the same manner that they have no problem in fighting a dirty war, they don't follow and rules and don't play nice. I think it is time for us stop playing nice. The job would get done much faster, that's for sure.

Just because you haven't been paying attention does not mean that Bush's actions are wanting.
We have been operating in Afghanistan for 5½ years, and have sent the Taliban and Al Qaeda packing and hiding, and we continue to seek them out and destroy them.
The fact that a single person in a bomb suit attacked the base Cheney was at doesn't mean anything. The bombing attacks by terrorists and terrorist insurgents in Iraq are more numerous and more frequent and kill far more people.
Your take on this is a sad commentary on your [lack of]awareness of what's happening in the world. Pity.

[edit] We are STILL in Afghanistan - we've never left. And our mission there hasn't changed, except that NATO forces have taken over some of the security operations. US forces are still there hunting out Al Qaeda and Taliban.

The Taliban is in Pakistan. They're going across the border and fighting in Afghanistan. Same thing with Iraq, most of the terrorists there are coming from other countries.

killing terrorist is what the war on terror is all about, Iraq or Afghanistan, or New York. But I would prefer to do this in the middle east.

We should focus on the entire Middle East. And, while we call it a "War on Terror." It should be called a War on Terrorism and because we call it a war, doesn't mean we have to send thousands of troops to one country. We need to be more selective in our targets.
