The intelligence that was available to [the president] after September 11 was that they were categorical in their belief that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction. There WAS NO deception.

The idea that that intelligence product was manipulated by the administration is just completely without foundation. But the Democrats have embraced it because it is how they hope to explain the fact that most of them VOTED FOR the resolution authorizing force against Saddam.

It is very popular now to suggest that because we didn't find WMD, he wasn't the threat. What we didn't find in truth was stockpiles of WMDs. He certainly had the capacity to produce chemical and biological weapons again when he wanted to do so we had the right to respond to that threat. You can't operate on the basis of what you know later. You've got to operate on the basis of what you know then.

Since the documents DON'T "prove" Bush lied about anything, and in fact support his claim that Iraq had WMDs and show that his cabinet and Blairs people thought that Saddam might use them, the Liberal media is not very interested in reporting ANYTHING that may be interpreted as a 'good' thing.

Uh, no they don't prove any such thing, which is perhaps the reason that the media doesn't make anything of it. Especially since the writer of the memo has made it clear it doesn't mean any such thing.

I am continually astounded at the willful ignorance of those people who cannot comprehend that the English term "fixed" used in that memo does not have the same meaning as the American idiom "fixed".

How obtuse can people be? Why are so many people willing to distort the truth in order to advance their agenda? Do they not realize that if they need lies in order to advance their agenda, then perhaps their agenda is not worth advancing?

CBS, ABC, NBC, BBC America, CNN, HNN, FOX all covered the Downing Street Memo's. They also covered the Brittish Investigation into the DOwning Memos that showed the false conclusion people drew from them.

They came out ages ago and nobody really cared.

It's been known for ages that the "45 minute claim" was actually in reference to simple battlefield munitions and not WMD. It's also been known for ages that almost all of the caveats attached to the intelligence were removed when compiling the "dodgy dossier".

If you haven't heard of them until now, you're either very young, or just completely out of touch.

They received their due share of attention and were found wanting.

Well either you have read them and are keeping them a secret since you know what is contained in them or they do not exist.

Because they have to be selectively deceptive. They can't publish ALL of their wacky ideas or they'd be committed or fired like Dan Rather.

It appears to me that you have heard about them. Thus you may need to adjust your theory!

Because, of course, the media is NOT "liberal."

And you can just ask Rupert Murdoch.
