Who clearly hates British people decided to give the baby of the family a british accent?

Why does he "clearly hate English people"? I love Family Guy and I don't think we come in for any more abuse or mickey-taking than any other nation or race. Stewie's accent being British, I think, is simply because we are traditionally seen as villains in American movies/tv etc, so as he is a Bond style super-villain (in his head) logically he should have an English accent.

What I want to know is why Brian the Dog can understand what Stewie says, yet the others in the family seem oblivious.

It is the episode with the bar being bought by the English who move into the neighbourhood that is seen as anti British.

Let's face it, they rip on everyone which is why they can get away with it. Same as Southpark.

I think that if they had total freedom they would have made the baby with a German accent but that may have been the step too far touching many nerves. Remember, Stewie was born with a map of Europe and you can hear the chanting of the Nazi follows.

Not odd at all. Look at it this way - Stewie can be described as "evil" always wanting to kill Lois. Yeah, he has a British accent, but it's not a very flattering view of the British, is it?

Stewie is meant to be evil, and a bit camp, so that accent works perfectly.

As for the brit-bashing, it's all a bit of fun. If we took offence to that, we'd be no better than those americans that were on Top Gear.

Because the baby is supposed to be evil, sinister etc and our accent just works so well for that. Maybe the creator thinks we're all evil and sinister (and we are!)

Stewie rules... I don't remember any Brit bashing though. I know he goes after everyone pretty equally.
