They do sleep (at night, like a lot of animals). The interesting thing is that when they sleep their body temperature drops about 10-20 degrees celsius!!! Their temperature is about 40 degrees celsius (100 farenheit i guess, although I can't even spell farenheit), during the day when its in constant activity. And It drops drastically when the animal is not in an active period (during the night when you don't see them because they are sleeping).

Cool huh? If your temperature change only a couple of degrees you may DIE. These little birds can take drastical changes in their body temperature.

Of course they sleep. Hummers are NOT nocturnal. They have to sleep at night.

When tending the nest the female spends a lot of time being sessil.

I've seen hummers napping on tree limbs.
