I mean how many of us go around wearing those kind of clothes.

Heck - why stop at the gowns? What is all the hoopla about the Oscars?

Just print the names of the award winners on a website and be done with it. We don't need a self-rightous show that lasts for hours.

Obviously, people really do care because it is such a popular topic. I agree it is way too much talked about. The gowns get more press afterwards then the actual movies and winners! It's just like the runway shows and fashion mags. though. You and I can't afford $10,000 numbers from Dior or Versace but obviously, some people out there can! We, as a society, are just obsessed with the rich and famous.

I enjoy watching the celebrities walking around at the oscars in some unconventional clothes. I guess the gowns are basically to see what the public likes?

Well I think it would be fun to wear them (hehe)

More seriously though, deffinately overhyped. I do like to see what the women wore. A lot of the outfits are unusual, some are nice, and then there are usually a few that I think are really cool (usually the ones the critics hated).

Sort of like Vanna's wardrobe. A lot of what she wears is unusual. Some of the dresses look pretty akward to wear. But evry once in a while she wears something that is really cool. They all get a lot of hype though.

its nice to see how f**ked up movie stars can dress with all the money and access to the style people that are in the world and yeah i think they only use those dress's once and they cost what some people make in a year. its like a nascar race ...where your waiting for someone to crash or come out in a bad dress. haha

Well, the fashion industry does I guess, as it's a chance for them to 'parade' their goods at somethng which is watched by ware more people than London Fashion Week or something.

I think its just a way to get people wishing to look like the stars ( I.E) so us "lower class" people will buy just about anything .
