As a left defender, you can score goals to help your team out. You can also roam around in your own goal box. As for helping out your right defender, you can but I wouldn't recommend it cause you'll be leaving a gap on the left. That's why you have a central defender.

yeah you CAN do all of that but going up leaves your side of the defense pretty open which means you either have to get back faster than the ball or score a goal. If your on the left the middle guy should go help the right and you should take the middle that way theres a minimal amount of wasted evergy. and as for entering your own goalie box its not good unless there was a rebound and the ball is going for the goal and the goalie can't get to it, otherwise your just being an idiot because your blocking your goalies veiw and he can catch it with his hands alot easier than you can block it with your feet. anyway, theres no rules against anything but none of it is paticularly smart most of the time.

Just stay at the left side but if you want to score a goal,go forward when your team are attacking or from the set pieces like corner. If you changing side, you will left a space on the left flank and your team also can be confuse. So,just stick at your position.

Yes, yes, and yes. It is allowed in the game, but whether your coach would want that is the question.
