Not really, unless your really into downloading music or videos. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it, ya know. All the new phones are designed with blue tooth, which is just a fancy way for saying wireless communication, like with the little earsets everyone is wearing in their ears and being web ready. I'm still one of those people who actually use my phone to call and recieve calls, not for entertainment! If your phone is for function and not entertainment, I wouldn't bother upgrading right now. Hope this helps.

Well, If you feel like the phone works well for you then I would say no. You don't have to upgrade your equipment. You do receive a credit every 22 months from Verizon to purchase new equipment if your on a primary line and a two yr contract. There are alot of really great phones out there right now! The lgvx8300 and the lgvx8600 are the really good lg handsets. They both have more features then the lgvx6100 and the sound and picture quality is much better on those 2 lg handsets. It is really all up to you though... If your not ready to upgrade your equipment yet then don't. You wont lose that credit towards new equipment, so I recommend you just wait until you feel you need new cell phone!

If you are happy with your phone, I'd recommend keeping it. Some of the older cell phones actually have a better antenna than the new cell phones and can actually pick up a signal better. That's because many of the new cell phones try hiding the antenna whereas the old ones don't so much.

There are a few advantages to some of the newer cell phones such as the batteries lasting longer and being able to be charged better. One thing to be careful of if you get a new phone is to wait till your current contract is about to expire or otherwise you may have to pay about a $50 fee to switch service to the new phone. Many of the cell phone companies will charge you if you aren't within so many months of your contract ending unless your phone actually breaks or gets stolen and you have paid for the insurance coverage on your phone by paying a couple extra bucks each month.

Also be wary of anytime minutes. I'm not sure it is the same with Verizon, but on Cingular "Anytime Minutes" means that whenever you use the phone whether it be after 9pm on a weekday or if it is a weekend you will still get charged those minutes. I had a 450 minute Rollover plan with free night and weekend minutes and I saw the Cingular had a deal for 1000 Anytime minutes for cheaper and the representative made it out like I still had free nights and weekends and rollover minutes. When I switched to Anytime Minutes what they didn't tell me at the store is that the night and weekend minutes go bye bye with Anytime Minutes. I would normally talk at night or on the weekends so I wouldn't rack up minutes on my plan. And my phone bill had ran about $40 a month on the 450 minute plan with free nights and weekends. When I switched to the Anytime Minutes plan, my phone bill sky rocketed to $180 per month. This was due to the fact that Cingular was deceptive about the night and weekends not being free on their Anytime Minutes plan. Anytime Minutes to them means that anytime you use your phone you are racking up minutes. Luckily, I was able to get the plan switched back to my old phone plan, but Cingular wouldn't do anything about the $180 phone bills. Now I question those phone plans that seem so good and am a lot more careful.

So just be careful if getting a new phone or a new plan. Phone companies can be deceptive, so ask a lot of questions.

I had a phone that was five years old. Worked fine, never dropped a call, but I replaced it because I was tired of getting crap because it wasn't so stylish. I wish I never did it! My new phone (same service) drops calls alot & roams alot. I have been told there are two different tpyes of signals. My old phone must have used one type and my new one uses another. I guess there are phones tat use both, but they are more expensive. I would definatly check into it before I buy.

If you are a businessman, keep that phone itself because your use will use it only for communication purpose. Otherwise you may opt for a new one. That too not important! We have pc to do all the things. In mobiles you can't expect that much efficency! We can buy cameras , mp3 players that works excellently!!!!! My advice is hold the old one itself
