First of all, just to defend fellow happy people. The five happiest EU nations are in order, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Sweden. They are five of the most propsperous nations in the world and are some of the safest as well. We have a safety net which we are willing to pay for in case anything happiness to us.
Both Ireland and Sweden are neutral countries who do not get involved in wars.
Saying the poll is biased because you are not going to say you are miserable would work in favour of all nations, but that isn't the case as some countries reported low happiness percentages such as Bulgaria and Hungary.
The top five countries are close to full employment, like Ireland and the Netherlands.
We prefer to enjoy life instead of being in a rat race.
I suggest you have a look at the report.
Now people in the US, from my experience are very happy, but that is on the outside, you could be miserable and still appear the life of the party, and the reverse is true. Knowing you country I would say they would have a lower percentage of happiness, this would be from lack of free time and time with family and friends.
But thats my opinion and I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.

bankrupt gov's? Look at France and Italy. The day I believe a UN study will be the day I wear my a** as a hat. Denmark? 97%? I've been to Denmark and during the winter when their is no sun shine, I've never seen people more depressed and who drink more. They probably took the survey in a bar.

I would be happy too if I got to sit on my **** all day. You don't become a super power by sitting on your *** watching the Simpsons. And Americans aren't as happy because we work ours off.
