To clear or not to clear when intersect ball thrown in from out side 3 point line?

In Spore, we usually dont clear, how abt in other countries or accoding to NBA rule?

We were playing half court and my opponent shot an air ball 3 point. Then, i intercepted and lay up immediately without clearing the ball.

The opponent claimed that i had to clear the ball nomatterwhat, following NBA rule. So what do you say?

depends on if your playing full court.. what kind of game youre playing, and if you put in.. some say clear it but if its an air ball then its still live and you can put it back up...
