yes! how else would food be provided?
the EU spends lots of money on subsidies for farmers to produce food (CAP - Common Agriculture Policy) to ensure that there is enough and that they can provide for themselve if needed...usually this ends up with lots of wasted food though..."food mountains" from overproduction....
