Although people can provide a guarantee card with the cheque it doesn't necessarily mean that they have the funds available. A friend of mine who's in business used to get quite a few bouncing cheques. Businesses tend to prefer debit/credit cards because it goes into their account the following day.

Primarily, it is because cheques involve more paperwork in terms of receiving money. BACS, Creditcard, Debit Card and Cash are all a lot easier to deal with.
I have removed cheques from my Businesses and Companies because of this, and I rarely get any complaints.

the banks want you to use the chip and pin.and when some one
steals your money you will not get it back of the bank.because
they will say you let your pin number out.and it is not safe what so ever.like they show on watchdog.and the banks still refuse to give the money back.so basicly its the banks way of getting out of paying your money back if some one stole it.
