Very simply...

Consider a circle with radius=1, and the centre at the origin of 2 axes: this is the unit circle.
The distance between one point of the circle and the origin (that is the centre) is the hypotenuse of a right triangle, which is 1. If you draw it, you have an angle between the x-axis and it. Call the angle "a".
The horizontal cathetus of the triangle is the point abscissa of the circle, its formula is

x=cos(a) (generally: x= radius*cos(a) ).

The vertical one is the the other cathetus:
y=sin(a) (generally: y= radius*sin(a) ).

The tangent is a little harder to explain, but the formula is very simple:

tan(a)=sin(a)/cos(a)

If you understand sin and cosin, then you will have no problem to learn what the tangent is.

Good luck!

A tutor or text books are useful!
It is not possible to cover a whole subject such as Trigonometry on this site.
Beware about clutching for straws---there are no easy fixes-----hard work required.
I think that others might agree with me?

Difficult to explain here. Limited space and not able to use enough "functions" to make an explanation easy.
I suggest you try using a search engine and type in "GCSE trigonometry"

I would suggest getting a tutor or asking someone in person. trying to explain trig over the internet is very difficult. i would know. =)

if you do want to do it over the internet, look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trig

and also go to www.tutor.com They are very helpful at explaining things!
