i have 8 large speakers in my bar and i would like to know if its worth the purchase

It would depend on the amplifier you are using. Make sure it has an option for Auxillary Input.
If you have that option, it's not a very expensive idea. Instead of that though, what you could do is just burn CD's of the music you want from friends or anyone! Much cheaper :) You'll need someone to change the music all the time, as compared to making a playlist on the Pod, but hey, it's way cheaper.

I hook my mp3 player up to my sound system all the time. All you need is a cable that will plug into it. You can get one for 5 - 10 dollars. It is definitely worth the investment.

yes. Walmart sells an adapter for like 3 bucks. plug one end into the headset jack, the other end are the yellow and white plug (RCA jacks) into the back of the component. If you meant to spell car instead of bar, they also make an adapter which uses a FM signal to transmit to your CAR radio
