Your car could be stolen
You might get an car accident
You might get robbed
You can be out of gas in a lonely, remote area
Than closer you get to Florida, you're fighting with BUGS!!!
Hope all this will not happen to you...Good ride!
Greetings from Germany

all the bad things listed so far could pretty much happen when you have someone with you, too. the only thing is, dealing with it all alone is stressful. i'd say the biggest issue about driving alone is boredom. after a while, you want someone to talk to. if you do this, i'd reccommend a head set for your cell phone so you don't have to hold it to talk to people. especially driving in places you've never been before, it is much more necessary to be focused and prepared while driving.
if you ever have any troubles by yourself, don't be afraid to talk to the locals. most people are generally willing to help. go into a public place, a grocery store or something, and ask them questions.
try and map out your destination before hand and pick a few things along the way to do and see and a few places you might stop to rest. take breaks between driving to just chill out. move your legs, read a book, watch a dvd on a portable thing... whatever. you'll need the distraction.
do whatever you can to not be bored. that's what i would say is the worst thing. cuz if anything else bad happens, you could pretty much handle it yourself. and they could also be opportunities to mingle with people you wouldn't have otherwise mingled with. good luck, and have a stack of emergency money that you'll only plan on using during an emergency.

think of the the best case scenarios instead! Go the blue roads...there is some beautiful scenery along the way....the price of getting there to line the pockets of gas executives is the only negative I can think of....

If you are looking for the WORST, you'll find it! Focus on sitting on the beach with no responsibilities! I wouldn't even want a cell phone with me!
Or are you trying to talk someone into going with you and want to give them reasons why they should go?
Regardless, get a GPS system. They are wonderful!
