I pulled all of my back muscles and stomach muscles. I was given vicodin, then motrin, and muscle relaxers. The doc never told me how long to heal...It has been two weeks with no relief. And can back muscles sprained move to the front of your body as well. It feels like a cracked rib I have, but I have had x-rays and Cat Scans that show everything is fine.
Thanks

What your doctor didn't tell you is that you have to do more then just take medication to help pulled muscles heal. You should try to ice the are for atleast 10 minutes twice a day. As well as that you should stretch all the muscles that you pulled. Not to the point that you actually hurt yourself, but to the point that you have some discomfort. Between that and the medication (you can take motrin and flexeril(if thats the muscle relaxers he gave you) together and it should heal in probably another month or so.

Try taking a little cider vinegar twice daily. The calcium and potassium it contains helps relieve muscle strains.

Also, arnica is often very helpful - available from most pharmacies these days.

You could also try taking a calcium and magnesium supplement which may help your metabolism with the repair process.

Make sure you are getting plenty of good quality protein (but enough is enough) and have hot baths and/or massage for pain relief and relaxation.

how long it takes to repair itself depends upon how severe the damage is and your general health. If you create the right conditions (as above), it should not take very long.

It sounds crazy but by getting a massage for your legs e.g. (front and back) and arms, you'll see that recovery will speed-up in time at least 30%. In case you might consider a back massage or a front massage make sure that it will only be a relaxing massage without treatments of muscles with tension. New Age music will support a more relaxing surrounding for you during such a massage. Stay warm at all times. Good luck to you !!

Back muscles heal slowly. I've had a number of pulled muscles and severe bruises in my back. They aren't fun and take weeks, or months to fully heal, especially if you are to active.
