My water is hard. It leaves my whites discolored and my colors faded in my clothes. I cannot afford a water filter for the whole house yet. but if there is no other way.......any suggestions?

Leaf are you taking about the magnets that attach to your pipes going into your hot water heater? I am going to get them.

You can buy a little device which clips around your pipework and polarises the water so that the calcium in it does not end up depositing itself on anything. We have one and it's brilliant. I've seen one on Ebay recently for about 15 pounds/30 dollars.
It works for years and years without any attention.

I don't know this product - ours cost quite a lot more - but it sounds like the same thing as far as I can tell.

Sorry to be a bit vague about the science - I haven't researched this one fully yet!

Water Softener System might be an idea. They are getting cheaper now. You will save money on your soap and shampoo and detergent, it doesn't take near as much with a softener. It may not be as expensive as you think.

Also Hard water causes Kidney Stones. If you are using it for drinking water.

What I had to do is buy a water filteration system for my house you may want to look into it. it sounds like you have to much floride in your water. We use potasium isted of salt and it makes the water feel very soft and it taste very good. I would recomed it call any plumbing place and ask for a water softing system several diff styles and prices.

Go to Lowe's Home Improvement and buy some water softener. It will help some. I would suggest going to a Laundry mat until you can get the situation fixed.

there are laundry additives for just that problem. Check your local store. Other people have the same issue in your area so the products will be in the store.
