Technically the baby doesnt breath air like you do it breaths what is in your blood. The smoke effects the baby because it goes into your blood stream and chewing tobacco is in fact worse because it put larger amounts of nicotine into the baby's system cause the child to be born like addict. Colic is a major factor in nicotine use because the baby's system didnt develope well enough because it was too busy fighting off the nicotine.

Think about this. It's ONLY 9 MONTHS. Treat your body like a temple right now and do EVERYTHING you can to ensure a heathly baby. You may live to regret any other decision...THE REST OF YOUR LIFE AND the REST OF THE BABY'S LIFE if you don't start putting the baby first.
I'm not saying it's easy, but I am saying you're in a temporary situation. Not to mention you shouldn't smoke once the baby is born either.
Find out if your state has a program to help you or call a Healthy Babies Healthy Mothers type of organization in your town.
YOU MUST start thinking like a Mother. You OWE this to the baby for the next 18 years.
You can do it girl!!!!! Now start thinking of some great names!!!

Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of complications, low birth weight, miscarriages, stillbirths, premature births, bleeding during pregnancy, and sudden infant death syndrome. It is not worth the risk.

Don't be a nut. You will addict the unborn baby to nicotine and predispose them to a life of tobacco addiction.
