i dont know about Boston, but i rep NYC and if we show any hostility towards southerners its because we're sick of hearing the same ole "the south will rise again" and how the majority of southern states just vote for who will help maintain their antiquted lifestyle. Not to mention that your buddy South Carolina still carries the Confederate Flag which should be treated as treason against the union. Oh, Oh, and lets not forget that you call people from the North "yankees"....like that could ever bother anyone.
So, you want to know why we can be condescending towards southerners? Clean yourselves up, join the rest of us in the 21st century, stop supplies all the people for Jerry Springer, oh, and if you really want to be friends with us from the North, STOP VOTING BLINDLY FOR REPUBLICANS!!
Dont you understand that its the republicans that pass the legislation that make it so the majority of southerners have to settle for a much poorer level of education which in turns leads to poor jobs. Read up on it, the people you so cherish as our leaders because they are "tradional" and "religious" are actually manipulating your whole region for its resources, but rather than put back the money they make off of you to help rebuild your economy to that of the New York, they realize that it is far more profitable to just syphon the money to other useless ventures, have the North pay out of pocket to maintain the HUGE level subsidies and government assistance that goes to the south and to top it all off, maintain the level of desception to prevent anyone from realizing how much they are destroying the South.
We in the North do not hate southerners, its just that we know whats going on and when we try to help, we are met with hostility stemming back from the Civil War,.....i mean, seriously, the Civil War? Yankees? The Confederate Flag? Dont you think its time to bury that one, Dont we have more important things on the agenda.
I personally love the south because you guys gave us Bill Clinton who may go down as one of the best in recent history. You also gave us the Bush Dynasty, which has, whether you realize it or not, deeply divided this nation between North and South, Coast vs Interior, Old versus New.
Join the team thats got the numbers and knowledge to back it up. Southern Hospitality is exactly what we need in New York, just not blind ignorance and stupidity.

Not all people in the North hate us just most of them! You should live in Texas I think they hate us worse! The people in the South are friendly and do care about people. Yes we do live at a slower pace than the people up North but we take time to enjoy life and appreciate it. Unlike the Northern states they are faster pace and are not enjoying family, friends & life!!!

Southern hospitality my azz. I visited Atlanta and it was the worst experience I've ever had by far. Everyone was so rude. I'd rather give birth, or have a few root canals before I visit the south again.

making a broad generalization about the norh based on some ignorant comments you have heard is as out of line as the comments themselves. I'm from pennsylvania, lived 4yrs in georgia, and loved it down there.

born and raised in ga, i just think thats the way they are. i went up north to boston few years back to visit grandparents and everyone made comment about like that at first then after the first day they didnt say anything else like that i just think thats how they are. i mean you dont hear northern hospitality, do you

When I went to college in Virginia, I was treated like crap. Called Yankee, northern bee-yotch and worse. I never experienced or saw any of the so-called southern hospitality when I was there. I had heard a lot about it and was looking forward to making some cool new friends, but everyone there was as snotty as you claim we northerners are. So it goes both ways darlin' .......

I would NEVER say anything like that! I LOVE the south, southern people, and southern cooking! You just met a couple of bad ones. (Bostonians are not the friendliest people.)
