Why is there no romance in final fantasy xii?

3 girls. 3 guys. 0 sparks. This is the first final fantasy in the series where i've seen absolutely no romance at all--unless you want to include the man and veira in rabanastre(which dont count because they give you a lame prize for setting them up anyway).wheres the love?

Based on a brief clip I saw, the story seems to be more of a war story, similiar to the Gundam stories.

The outspoken line "do you hate the empire, join us" or something like that is so political, resemble of the same line used in the beginning of Zeta Gundam by Anti Earth United Government organization.

And in the Gundam stories, romance stories usually mean the lovers at different sides and tend to end tragically with either of them killing the other or was killed by a friend.

So I guess the characters just playing it safe by not getting too close for comfort, so personal feelings probably are put aside.



As for the first Final Fantasy in the series with absolutely no romance at all.

Well, Final Fantasy XI is pretty much storyless, or maybe open ended, since it's a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

They chose to focus this one on the political intrigue between the kingdoms which doesn't leave alot of romantic oportunities. Politics and romance have a difficult time walking hand-in-hand, just pick up a newspaper to verify that statement. It's an interesting deviation from the typical Final Fantasy but if you really want a love story, try one of the previous 11 games instead.

It's a subtle romance. See, there's kind of a problem. The hero's friend is in love with him, but the hero's more interested in the princess. =) And the princess being... well a princess, she can't allow herself to be in love. And she loved another guy that you saw in the game's beginning. o.O
