Why don't you try a supermarket as a bag boy or carry out or something like that. In the summer you can tassel corn

At 14, I worked at a local plant nursery transferring seedlings to larger pots.

At that age, there is not a lot that you can legally do so best thing is to do odd jobs around the neighborhood for friends and family like mowing lawns, raking yards, help with trash removal, painting the fence/house/garage or if you're in a snowy area, shovelling snow and clearing walkways of ice etc.

Also, your local grocery store will be able to hire you as a bag boy and maybe a stock clerk (not too sure on the second part) but it will be for a limited number of hours as most states have specific guidelines as to what is or is not allowed. In Florida, someone under the age of 17 cannot work past 9pm on school nights nor can they put in more than half the hours than you attend school per week so if you go to school twenty hours a week, you cannot work more than ten.

More often than not, that last rule is usually ignored and up to the employer and employee. You will also have to have the permission of a parent.

That is a great question. I maybe able to help. Let start out with your experience and knowledge and your work ethic. First you are 14 and by most laws in the States you are to young to work at a store of any kind. But you can, get odd jobs around your neighborhood for the summer by gardening, mowing lawns, house sitting, babysitting, doing weeding and thing in that nature. You can take your families lawn mower and canvas your neighborhood for landscaping jobs. With ninety percent of households in America having both spouses working 8 hours a day this leaves the lawn and yards to be kept up by someone else. At the Age of 14 I have known several 14 year old business boys with their own landscaping companies. At the age of 13 I was babysitting for friends in my church and neighborhood and making about 35 to 40 dollars a week tax free. This can be done in winter and summer. If you live in a rural area you can work on a farm, bucking hay for the summer or pruning fruit trees and harvesting the fruit at harvest time. If you are really ambitious you and live near a horse or cow farm you can get them to give you the manure and you can start your own fertilizer company by learning different techniques on fertilizer. The ideas for jobs at your age are endless. Just have to figure a what you really want and how bad you really want it. Then go work hard for it and save your money. Good Luck

Your best bet is talking to your school counselor who might know what's available in your area and can help you with your work permit, which you'll need. There are lots of options but also lots of restrictions. Some options: farm worker, paper carrier, grocery bagger/checker/etc., fast food worker.

Below are some websites that can help or might be of interest but you could also run a search on child or youth labor. Good luck.

The farm, or go door to door and offer to cut grass or do yard work for a fee. I worked on a farm growing up. Got the job as soon as I was strong enough to pick up bailed hay.
