The spider would be of a 'house' variety and the stick insect of a 'pet' variety

Well I would have to go with the stick insect on this one. House spiders, well all Theridiid spiders in general are very soft bodied and fragile, plus of all the known spiders they have some of the smallest fangs relative to body size. The stick insects are highly sclerotized, making their bodies almost impenetrable to the bite of the spider. Although stick insects are not aggressive, they will defend themselves, and if the spider is ever on the insect, it will use its legs to frantically dislodge the spider, and would most likely kill it in the process...

Hope this answers your question!

The stick insect is far too big for the spider to eat, the insect can not harm the spider. The spider would investigate the insect notice that it was too big for prey and then flee. That is why house spiders don't eat dogs or cats either - they are also too big.

The spider obviously. I did have a really mean stick insect once that ate its own sister, but she could not have taken on a house spider.

The spider would win because it could trap the stick insect with a web and then eat it!

Seriously, have any of the above posters ever seen a "stick insect" when mating? They're *quite* capable of defending themselves. Unless it was a big spider or highly poisonous spider(still of a large size), chances are the stick insect would be just fine.

The spider would win!! Stick insects are herbivorous and dumb animals that can do nothing more than lie around and pretend to be sticks. If you grab one in your hand they will probably just bretend to be dead. They are nice and simpathic animals, but would hardly win a fight against any other arthropod, especially a spider! A killer, a predator!

Ok..this is a dozey question..but,i will reply.
A Giant Prickly/Spiny would chomp the House Spider to shreds.
Stick insects are generally gentle creatures...but,the above named have "armour" and a "bite."
If threatened they will attack.
If handled gently they are lovely creatures...but,if you handle them roughly..then,they will bite.
A House spider is incredibly delicate...no matter how large they may grow to.
As a Science Technician who cares for/raises Stick Insects...I would definitely put my money on the Stick Insect.
My Giant Prickly(who sadly died yesterday...they live for a maximum of 18 months)would have mashed that Spider into the floor of her cage.(R.I.P Prickly.)

to be honest if it came down to it the spider would kill the stick insect although whether its fangs could pierce the stick insects skin is debatable but the stick insect has no weapons and uses camoflage to evade predators.
