it will let me play dvds but it will not let me copy them, i think the software or something is missing and my computer came already built with everything installed from tesco so i have no copies of any software or hardware what can i do

You might want to uninstall it and reinstall it then restart the computer.............Copying DVDS can be tricky...Some are so protected you really have to know how to get around the copy protection and it sometime takes more than one program to do it.............

I think you will find that what you have is Power DVD
This lets you play dvd's but you can not copy them with this software you will need Nero or easy cd creator if your dvd's are copy protected you will also need dvd region free or anydvd software to remove the copyright
By the way when you got your pc from Tesco it should include software for recovery purposes etc
