Can anyone recommend any PC Strategy games based in space? Similiar to Galatic Civilisations II possibly or the Civilisation series only in space.

Bonus points if they go online multiplayer.

The only other one I can think of is Starcraft, that's more of an RTS though.

I love space strategy games more than any other genre.

Here are some space empire strategy/building games for the PC:

Armada 2525 (older, classic game)
Spaceward HO! IV (older, classic game)
Master Of Orion (older, classic game)
Master Of Orion 2 (older, classic game)
Master Of Orion 3 (might want to stay away from this title, steep learning curve)
Pax Imperia (older, classic game)
Ascendancy (older, classic game)
Sword Of The Stars
Space Empires IV: Gold
Space Empires V
Galactic Civilizations

All are good games in the genre. Among the best is Master of Orion 2, the original GC, and Space Empires IV. Most recently released is Sword of the Stars and Space Empires V.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but Galactic Civilizations II has just released an expansion set, available from their website.

Space Empires IV & V, and Sword Of The Stars are multiplayer, of those games that are more recent. Master Of Orion 2 has a lot of Civ-type elements.

In short, I would look into Master Of Orion 2 and one of the Space Empires titles.

Hope this helps.

There are not that many 4X strategy games in space besides the ones mentioned; Alpha Centauri is a great game, if dated. There is a game similar to Galactic Civilizations 2, though, called Space Empires; I believe Space Empires 5 just came out. Another is Hegemonia: Legions of Iron.

Other than 4X games, though, perhaps the best space-based Real-Time Strategy game is Homeworld 2. I'd seriously check it out.

If you like Civilisation you could try Alpha Centauri, similar to Civilisation, but set on Alpha Centauri. It's a turn based strategy game that came out in 1999, but still great to play even today.

Hi,
I easily got for free StarCraft II Wings of Liberty here: http://bit.ly/1BDyiLm

no surveys, no scams, just the full game!
StarCraft II is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game. It is the sequel of StarCraft. The gameplay mechanics still the same. You need to create your base, build structures and train units in order to beat the enemies.
Check it out.
