most cars have a diff: they become one wheel drive on slippery surfaces,very inconvenient. Diff: locks should be mandatory on all vehicles in the future from tomorrow. not enough practicle people in govenment or the A.A.

Taxes should be lower, driver tests should be stricter, etc etc etc

We are surrounded by "should be's" that are beyond our control.
Don't lose sleep over it.

There is a safety reason for the traction control which stops people from slipping in wet conditions.

The car removes power to that wheel until it regains grip and then re-applies. This is especially important for the average driver who is likely to have no idea on driving in a difficult condition.

Don't you think that cars are being designed by top engineers at the car companies and not by the AA or government?

During slippery conditions, there would be more accidents if locking differentials were on all vehicles. While it's great to have to drive both wheels evenly, it tends to break your straight line traction causing sideways movement in many cases. Traction control is the answer.

slip diff has saved thousands of lives compared to the rare incidents that have occured since its introduction so get the facts first.
