Which noise, and which Doctor Who theme? It has an awful lot of noises for a theme tune! If you are asking what instrument made it, it is more likely to be a manipulated electronic sound than an actual instrument. If you are asking what made the sound - I think you need to write to the BBC!

The noise of the tardis appearing.
IF you mean how is the noise made, I suggest you contact the BBCs special effects department or [possibly sound department). Then let us all know because for the life of me I can't even guess how that noise is made.

That would be the TARDIS.
If you are not sure... check out downloads of sounds on the Doctor Who official website.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/sounds/
Scroll down to get space sounds like the TARDIS and Theme sting along with dozens of other sounds and music.
Have fun!

The "theme" has changed for each doctor, so which noise?
It was done by the BBC Radiophonic shop, originally in 1963.
