Originally, it was to celebrate a king's wedding In Bavaria, a state in Germany at the city of Munich and festivities started in late September and lasted until the first Sunday in October. It's an outdoors tourist attraction today. A large mug of beer will set you back 8 euro.

They are celebrating the harvest. Everyone can join in on the celebration. I was stationed over in Germany. It is a week long, and party time.
