All of the ones I see in the stores say "Not for use on dimmers", this stinks because almost all the lights in my place have dimmers on them. Where can I get some that do work on dimmers?

Most flourescent bulbs that you will find at the store cannot be dimmed. Normally, the only bulb you will find at your local store that can be dimmed is an incandescent bulb. You can cut the amount of energy you use by using a lower wattage incandescent bulb or you can go shopping online for a dimmable fluorescent bulb. You can also cut the amount of energy you use by keeping the dimmer setting at a lower light setting. The dimmer switch pretty much just controls how much power or the rate that the power goes through electric wire. So when you turn the lights down using the dimmer you are using less power.

Below is a website I looked up on dimmable flourescent bulbs. I was interested in the topic too because I have several dimmer lights in my house also.

There are dimmable fluorescent bulbs out there. It's just the stores haven't started selling them, probably due to price. I noticed the price for one was about $18. That's more than most people want to pay for a light bulb at the store so it's probably why most stores don't carry them. Once the technology gets a little more common the prices will probably go down and you will start seeing them in the stores.

If the bulb is a compact fluorescent, you may have trouble locating a dimmer. It can be done and you must have the right dimmer for this to work. Most stores do not carry this type of switch, try an electrical supply store if you don't find one elsewhere.

I dont know yet, but when I do, I will let you know....we have a five-year span here to get rid of normal bulbs and replace them with energy saving ones....normal ones being phased out...

Ask in the hardware store.

If they do not carry them, they can be ordered.

I have some dimmable fluorescents.
