London is our historical capital, it is a fantastic, exciting, beautiful city, the centre of British art, culture and business, and it richly deserves to be our capital. I'm from London and I'm not rude (and keeping shtum about your other accusations). The transient nature of the population (people passing through, immigrants, students) doesn't help to give the impression of friendliness; a lot of people in big cities must feel 'lost'; it's not a problem unique to London.
I've just spent half-term there, and I felt uplifted in spirit; the flowers are just coming out in the parks, the buildings & river sparkle in the sun; free entry to museums and galleries, lots of free activities, kids get free travel on buses - yes, there are problems but no more than other capitals. Paris also has rude people, congestion and dodgy suburbs, but everyone looks beyond that to the beauty. I hate the way people slag off London - why can't you be proud of it? It's YOUR capital!
And you want Grimsby?
As for the 'central location' argument, Birmingham might win on that but would fail on other criteria. Other countries seem to manage; Russia, India, Australia, USA - Wichita for capital, anyone?

A few years back a survey showed that London spends £30 per person on rubbish disposal and the keeping streets and the city clean. In comparison Paris spends £95 per person. (Ok it was a survey that I read in a Bill Bryson travel book).
Manchester is way too small.... I think a few politicians want the capital moved to Brussels or Berlin.

Why would you want to move it? All of the most important historical landmarks are in London - that's why so many tourists visit it.
I agree that Londoners are rude, but that's par for the course in all capital cities.
On the hand, perhaps you'd like to see the capital moved to its original location: the beautiful, architecturally splendid and wonderfully named ...
.... Staines?
